As the 90-Day Challenge comes to an end, my life is just beginning. I feel like a new person. Before the Challenge, I was working 3 jobs and eating fast food 7 days a week. My children were also getting fast food because I was too tired to cook when I got home. If and when I had a day off, all I wanted to do was sleep. I had no energy to participate in their lives. I felt like a horrible mother. My blood pressure was sky high and I suffered from migraines regularly. My clothes didn’t fit anymore. I was fed up and enough was enough. A friend of mine who had just signed up for the 90-Day Challenge asked if I was going to try it. She had been losing weight and was looking good. So that very day I went and signed up.
I first began by cutting out the fast food. I began packing healthy foods I could eat on the go. I cut out all carbs, sugar and dairy. The main thing I gave up was soda. I lived on soda because I thought I needed caffeine to function. I began incorporating 30 minutes of exercise a day. I was determined to get my 10,000 steps and 10 flights of stairs per day, so I purchased a Fitbit. I noticed the weight began to come off, so I began working out longer and harder. My personal trainer told me that lifting weights would help me burn more calories. So I started lifting.
I also included my family on this journey. Now they were getting home-cooked meals that included chicken and veggies that they loved. My son loves to help cook meals with me. He now wants to be an Iron Chef. Also I take the kids swimming with me at the gym. This is my favorite time because I’m able to spend time laughing and playing in the pool with kids while getting a workout in. Also the LifeCafe was a big hit with me. I was able to grab a yummy protein shake after my workouts.
There were some days I just wanted to give up, but that’s what I did in the past and I wasn’t happy with those results. I was happy now and I wanted to keep it that way, so I kept strong. People started complimenting me, so that made feel great. My son would come up to me and tell me I was getting skinnier. That made my day.
So the 90-Day Challenge may be over, but my new lifestyle is not. I cannot express my gratitude to Life Time for giving me my life back.
