I really can do it all at my Life Time.

After we had our daughter, my husband and I experienced secondary infertility. We resorted to two years of hormone infertility treatments, including 8 cycles of IVF. I gained over 100 lbs, and became depressed, despondent and frustrated with the fertility rollercoaster. My doctor suggested that I take a break from all the hormones and focus on getting healthy, including losing the weight. He told me that I should join Life Time.

The 90-day challenge gave me the push I needed to get started. I worked with trainers Kim Underwood and Sally Sawyer. I weighed in at 266.2 lbs. Kim signed me up for her TEAM Weight Loss class and the Food Sensitivity Test. Sally did my health score, metabolic testing and nutritional coaching. The testing was essential; it quantified what I needed to focus on and gave me a personalized path of how to get there. I learned what foods were best (and worst) for me, and started a regular workout regime. The testing provided a personalized plan for me based on my metabolic profile and blood work.

In the Life Time Café, I purchased the Vivofit 2 to track my steps, and a heart rate monitor that I linked to my Vivofit and the LTConnect App to track my heart rate zones. Kim told me to track my food with a food journal. I was accounting my food intake and my exercise output daily. I met with former 90-day weight loss champion Nancy H, who helped me the entire journey.

Life Time’s nutritional supplements were key to my success. I took the Life Time Performance AM/PM Vitamins, Curcumin 500, Vitamin D Complex, Omega EPA Complex, CarniClear, Calcium-Magnesium Citramate, Joint Maintenance, HCL Complex, FloraMend Prime Probiotic, Amino Complex, and Lean Complex. In the first weeks of the contest, I did the Life Time D.Tox program.

In the beginning of the challenge, I worked out for 4-6 hours at a time every day, and cut my calories and the foods that caused inflammation. The D.Tox program accelerated my weight loss in the first three weeks. I was focused on avoiding injury, so I did the treadmill, recumbent bike, and rowing machine in addition to my TEAM classes.

As the contest went on, I ate less and worked out more, but my weight loss began to slow.

Kim encouraged me to work out smarter, rather than longer. Trainer Jill Lundy met with me and suggested that I eat more. Instead of working out for many hours at a time without breaks, I started going to Life Time multiple times a day, and resting in between workouts. I took advantage of the sauna, steam room and whirlpool during my recovery after workouts to reduce soreness. I also started to vary my routine by participating in the GroupFitness classes, and by going to Life Time Green Valley to play tennis.

Our daughter loves going to the Kids Academy and Swimming lessons, which gave me extra time to work out.

My most successful weight loss came when I worked out 3 times a day, and when I ate 6 times a day (before and after each workout session). At each session, I would work out as hard as I could for an hour, or as long as it took to reach an equivalent of 10k steps. Then I would rest for 2-3 hours in between.

When I started to get muscle fatigue, Kim introduced me to Pilates Instructor, Danielle Hernandez. I began the Reformer Pilates private sessions, which have been essential to my training and core development. After I started Pilates and my new work out regime, my weight loss began to accelerate again. I felt stronger and had more energy, and began losing 5-6 lbs per week. I wasn’t hungry and my blood sugar normalized. I retook my active metabolic profile, and found that I was burning 100% fat in zone 2! My body started becoming a very efficient fat burning machine.

I used the products in the LifeSpa, like the Mio Liquid Yoga bath soak to improve my recovery after workouts, and the MoroccanOil Hair Mask to protect my hair. Crystal and Yessy in the LifeSpa did my makeover that added to my confidence.

At the end of the 90-day challenge, I weighed out at 177.6 lbs. I lost 88.6 lbs.
