10K-A-Day—the Life Time 10,000 Step Challenge is a fun, daily journey designed to help you move more as you visit fascinating places along virtual routes. By wearing your Fitbit, Garmin, or Jawbone activity monitor, and tracking steps online, you’ll boost your energy and improve your health. The goal is to take 10,000 or more steps each day of the challenge. Plus, you can have a chance to win some pretty awesome prizes.
Life Time members with a Fitbit, Garmin, or Jawbone activity/steps tracker. With each recorded step, you’ll see your progress on one of our fun routes — from snow-capped mountains and coastline beaches to ancient castles and dense forests — with exciting photos and interesting descriptions that make your virtual journey seem like you’re actually there.
Studies show significant health benefits are derived from 10,000 steps a day, whether from everyday activities or combined with dedicated workout time. Once you sync your device with your Fitbit, Garmin, or Jawbone mobile app or website, your 10K-A-Day Challenge account will automatically be updated within 10 to 60 minutes. 10K-A-Day—the Life Time 10,000 Step Challenge begins March 1, 2016 and ends on April 11, 2016. While you see your progress online, use the web site to discover great-tasting recipes, create a walking route using MapWalk™, and visit the Resources page for links to the web’s best walking, nutrition, and exercise sites.
Inviting friends to compete as part of your team is optional, though friendly competition is often highly motivating. The goal is to reinforce a lasting exercise habit with a fun, friendly competition that emphasizes consistency over athletic feats. Each day you record 10,000 steps or more you earn a token for your team. The more tokens your team earns the higher your team score. Read How It Works on the Team page to learn more.
You can stay connected to others who are not on your team by inviting them to become “Solemates”. You can encourage and support these friends and they can do the same for you. Similar to the friends you choose as teammates, the goal is to reinforce a lasting exercise habit with a fun, friendly camaraderie.
10K-A-Day is based on research showing active individuals, (those who achieve 10,000 steps a day or more) have lower risk for many chronic conditions including heart disease, some cancers, diabetes, and obesity. People who are regularly active also report greater energy, better mood, improved sleep, and other quality of life benefits.
Achieving 10,000 steps a day is a challenge for many. That’s okay. You can work up to it gradually and achieve health benefits no matter what your current activity level. Just wearing your device motivates individuals to add another 2000 without a lot of extra effort. Then, after work or dinner, most people check their steps, see they’re at 5000 or 6000 steps, and decide to go for a 2-3 mile walk or run to reach 10,000 steps.
Individual weight loss results vary and participation in the Challenge does not guarantee weight loss. Factors such as diet and genetic makeup, overall health, or physiological differences may influence weight loss. Please consult with your physician before beginning any new nutrition or exercise program.
There are three (3) ways to win:
1) Every participant who achieves 10,000 steps each day, March 1 through April 11, 2016, will win 15 LT BUCK$.
2) Top two (2) males and top two (2) female participants within each age category who achieve the most total steps and achieves 10,000 steps each day March 1 – April 11, will win the grand prize of $500.
3) The top male and top female at each club who achieve the most total steps and achieves 10,000 steps each day March 1 – April 11, will win a set of Jaybird X2 Bluetooth Headphones.

How does my Fitbit, Garmin, or Jawbone device sync with 10K-A-Day — the Life Time 10,000 Step Challenge?
Your device will actually sync with your Fitbit.com, Garmin Connect account, or Jawbone account and the 10K-A-Day Challenge website uses that information. Using the USB syncing device that came with your device or the mobile app for your device on compatible Smartphones, once you sync your device, your 10K-A-Day account will automatically update within 10 to 60 minutes. The computer or device you use to sync your Fitbit, Garmin, or Jawbone device must have access to the internet for the update process to work correctly.
